Which languages are supported?
The app interface is available in English and Spanish. You can set your manuscript language to any of 74 languages from the card menu on the dashboard, or from the ⚙️ Settings button in the editor. Three features use that language:
Writing insights filters common and filler words in 14 languages: English, Estonian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Turkish, with adverb detection for English and the Romance languages. Other languages get raw word counts.
Free style detection (weak verbs, filler words, clichés, passive voice) works on English and Spanish manuscripts.
AI features are fully supported in 18 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, Estonian, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish and Turkish. For other languages the AI will still try to help, but quality may vary.
What language will AI output use?
Set your manuscript language from the card menu (⋮) on the dashboard. Once set, all AI output uses that language. If left on Auto-detect, the AI infers the language from your text, which is less reliable for short selections or less common languages.
Are there limits on how often I can use AI features?
Max has a single pool of 50 AI credits a day, shared across every AI feature: extractions, analysis, spell check and the Writing Coach all draw on the same allowance. A scan costs one credit per 5,000 words, always rounded up and never split, so a 2,500-word chapter and a 5,000-word one both cost one credit and a full 60,000-word manuscript costs twelve. Free style detection (weak verbs, filler words, clichés, passive voice) is unlimited and does not touch the pool. The allowance resets daily at 00:00 UTC.
Is my work saved automatically?
Yes. Changes are saved automatically after a short pause as you write. A small indicator in the header confirms when saving is in progress or complete. You can also save manually at any time.
Can I recover from accidental changes?
Yes. Use Version Snapshots to save a named checkpoint of your manuscript at any point, then restore it with one click if a revision goes off the rails. Up to ten snapshots are kept per manuscript. A snapshot is also saved automatically before any Replace All operation, so bulk find-and-replace mistakes are always recoverable.
How do daily word goals and streak tracking work?
Set daily, weekly, and monthly word targets from your profile. Draftory Studio tracks how many words you add each day and keeps a running streak counting the consecutive days you meet your goal. Your streak and today's progress are always visible on the profile panel. Premium writers also get an optional weekly progress email: a Monday-morning recap of the week's words, your streak, and momentum toward your goals. Switch it on or off any time in your settings.
What are writing sprints?
A writing sprint is a timed focus session, on Premium and above. Pick a length (15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, or your own) and an optional word target, then write. A small bar shows the time left and words written as you go, and at the end you get a quick summary: words written, your words per minute, and whether you hit your target. It is a simple, motivating way to build momentum and a daily writing habit.
Can I have my writing read aloud?
Yes, on Premium and above. Click Read in the editor and the current chapter is read back to you, a quick way to catch clunky sentences and repeated words your eye skips over. A small bar lets you pause, stop, change the speed, and pick a voice. It uses your browser's built-in speech, so there is nothing to install and no extra cost.
Can I have multiple manuscripts?
Manuscripts are unlimited on every plan, including free Basic, each up to 500,000 words. Premium and the AI plans add series and collections so you can group related projects together, plus the full planning board on top.
What export formats are supported?
Word (.docx) export is included on every plan, including free Basic. Premium and Max add PDF and EPUB, so you can hand a reader a file they can open anywhere or take a manuscript straight to a submission. Chapters and front matter come out intact.
Is my writing private?
Yes. Your manuscripts are only visible to you when logged in. Draftory Studio does not share your content with third parties. AI features (Max) process your text securely and do not use it to train models.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Account settings and click Delete my account. You will receive a confirmation email with a link. Once you confirm, your account stays fully active for 30 days, giving you time to export any manuscripts you want to keep. At the end of that period all your data is permanently deleted. You can cancel the deletion at any time during those 30 days from the same Account settings page.
Can I try the app before signing up?
Yes. Click Try the demo on this page to explore a pre-loaded sample manuscript with all panels active, no account needed. To start writing with your own manuscripts, sign up for free, Basic is free forever, no credit card required.
Can I import an existing manuscript?
Yes. You can upload a Word (.docx) file directly from the dashboard, up to 3MB. Draftory Studio splits it into chapters automatically if your document uses Heading 1 styles for chapter titles. Plain body text is imported as-is if no headings are found. Each manuscript, imported or not, is limited to 500,000 words; split a longer draft into parts and upload each separately.
What happens to my manuscripts if I cancel my subscription?
Nothing is lost. If you cancel a paid plan (Premium, Max or Max) you return to free Basic. You keep full access to every manuscript you have created, and can still read and export them. You simply stop using the paid features. Everything is right where you left it, and you can re-subscribe any time.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. Draftory Studio is currently a web app you can access from any device, in any browser. The site is optimised for desktop use. Mobile browser access works, though the full editing experience is best on a larger screen.
How do I upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
Go to your profile and open the Account tab. You can upgrade at any time and the charge is pro-rated, so you only pay for the remainder of your billing period. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. Your manuscripts are never deleted when you cancel.
What payment methods are accepted?
Draftory Studio uses Stripe for secure payment processing. All major credit and debit cards are accepted. No payment details are stored on our servers.
Do I have to pay?
No. Basic is free forever, no credit card required, with unlimited manuscripts. Premium (€4.99/month) adds the planning and plotting toolkit; Max add AI on top. You can upgrade any time, and cancel any time to return to free Basic.
Do I need my own AI key or account?
No. The AI is built into Draftory Studio and included in your plan. There are no API keys to set up, no external accounts, and no separate usage bills, it just works, and the prompts are tuned to run in every supported language. If you would rather not use AI at all, Basic and Premium have none.
Can I share my manuscript with beta readers?
Yes. Open Beta Readers in your dashboard, pick a manuscript, and click Create link. You can share your full manuscript or selected chapters and add a label to keep links organised. Readers open a clean reading view in their browser and can leave notes on individual chapters. No account is required on their end. Revoke a link at any time to cut off access. Deleting a link removes it along with all reader notes and view history permanently.
Can I suggest a feature?
Yes. Draftory Studio is in early access and actively shaped by its users. You can submit feature requests and feedback directly from within the app using the feedback button. Every submission is read.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Draftory Studio is operated by Kenkes-Skedati OÜ, an Estonian company, and handles data in accordance with GDPR.
